Another week of Advanced Techniques training is under my belt and Im beginning to feel a lot more comfortable with flash. This weeks assignment was to produce a fill light or to balance the existing light with a single flash. I decided to take many images. I’m still learning the flash I’m using. I have a better understanding of flash although I’m still trying to really grasp the concept. I’m using the SB-900 and need to sit down to read the dang manual because event though fill and balance was fairly simple, Im still trying to figure to how to use my flash quickly on manual mode. I’m stuck with calculating ratios and I’ve already wasted precious time trying to figure out the dang flash (not in time to catch the image of course). (more…)
The wonderful women of Zeta Phi Beta (ΖΦΒ) Sorority Inc. allowed me to follow the Neos of Winter 2008 during the days that led up to their probate. Below this post you will find a similar photo project I did with the Deltas at MU, but unlike the wonderful Delta event I knew this event was going to happen a few days in advance which made me jump out my seat at the possibility of going deeper into the preparation process.
I decided I needed to make a visit to the “Cradle of Black Greek Civilization” also known to scholars as Howard University. The nickname was given because 5 of 9 BGLO’s were founded at HU. While Ithaca, NY is still #1 in my (and my brothers) hearts as the founding place for BGLO’s, I still must show respect to the soil on which the founders of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc., and Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc. laid the foundations of brotherhood/sisterhood.
